Computer Aided Law Teaching |
| The Law Courseware Consortium was established in 1992 to develop high quality computer based learning materials which will be adopted by law schools as an integral part of strategies for improving the productivity and effective ness of legal education | The Law Courseware Consortium has recently produced an interactive
CD-ROM which should be available in all university law departments. Although as yet there is no specific section on construction law, property law is covered as is a section on "law for non lawyers" which could be used in built environment teaching. It provides carefully crafted teaching exercises, utilising the latest multimedia technologies, interacting through constructive feedback. Each educational area is taught through various workbooks, usin
g both “linear” lessons and overall navigational devices allowing the student complete freedom of movement throughout the materials. The courseware’s resource book provides all materials (cases, statutes, bills, commentaries and so on) that a student need
s within a searchable and cross-referenced medium. The courseware allows lecturers to annotate the material, highlighting specific points of interest; and provides the student with a scrapbook and bookmark facility. Each course has been developed by a team of authors consisting of up to four law academics who have expertise in the relevant area and basic computing skills. They are assisted by a consultant who is an eminent authority on the subject.
